To say that FLAUNT IT by Sigue Sigue Sputnik was ahead of it's time is like saying Superman dislikes Kryptonite! First of all, in some ways commecial music has yet to catch up with this album even now in 2016 when considering that Sigue Sigue Sputnik actually put the gaps between the songs up for sale to advertisers thereby demonstrating the hyper-commercialistic nature of the music industry by the mid-1980's. To hear the various (and real) ads as varied as magazines, styling gel and beverages between the songs is almost a revolution and geniously works as almost counter to expectations by seeming rebelious and audacious. The songs themselves also bask in this type of commercial-bashing, especially on the track ATARI BABY in which the female object of attraction in the song is a popular home computer of the era. Once known as GENERATION X before Billy Idol left to cash in on a solo career, this band demonstrated a keen sense of itself in this upraorious 1985 debut that no other band of that era could be capable of.
