Contemporary classical music is not necessarily what you'd expect from ECM - they are much more of a jazz label. But this album collects various classical artists interpreting modern 20th Century classical pieces in extraordinary ways. The Hindemith: Sonata For Viola Solo No. 5, becomes a haunting piece, and it's just one of many excellent interpretations. Not for the standard traditional(!) classical music listener, but if you're adventurous, this is a great introduction to modern(!) classical music.
