Gene Ammons, Jack McDuff — Brother Jack Meets The Boss: Reviews
A Great Combination
Organist Brother Jack McDuff recorded some terrific albums with various sax players over the years, and this one with Gene Ammons is no exception. The players include a group of sidemen who were not front line players (except for Harold Vick on second tenor), but they provide sturdy support for these two great soul jazz players to work out. The tunes include a couple of standards - Strollin' by Horace Silver and Mr. Clean by Eddie 'Cleanhead" Vincent - and the players give everything here a strong workout. Soul Jazz with great feeling!
