Με το "El Pintor" οι Interpol φαίνεται να κερδίζουν τους επικριτές του, που τους περίμεναν στη γωνία με την εξαγγελία της κυκλοφορίας νέου δίσκου. Με την απουσία του Carlos D. το συγκρότημα έμοιαζε χαμένο, αλλά τώρα αφού συμφιλιώθηκαν με αυτή, φαίνεται να επιστρέφουν ορεξάτοι. Για άλλη μια φορά "οπτικοποιούν" την αστική μοναξιά, αυτό για το οποίο τους αγαπήσαμε εξαρχής, και για όσους τους ακούν για πρώτη φορά δίνουν ένα καλό έναυσμα να ψάξουν και την υπόλοιπη τους δισκογραφία και να "λιώσουν" κι αυτοί όπως κι εμείς το "Turn On The Bright Lights" και το "Antics".
