Dionne Warwick — Heartbreaker: Reviews
Dionne Meets the Bee Gees
Barry Gibb was a one man hit machine, and his productions (beyond those with his brother Bee Gees) are varied. This album, Heartbreaker, that he produced for Dionne Warwick, is a departure from her soulful earlier work, and while it has its' pleasures, it's not up to her usual par. Yes, the title track got tremendous airplay, but it really is just a Bee Gees track with Dionne singing lead. The album is a straight forward AOR structured piece (that was a term long ago - Adult Oriented Radio), and while that doesn't make it bland, it also means that it's not exciting. But the single Heartbreaker track, whether done by the Bee Gees (look for it in their catalogue) or Warwick is a catchy tune, and once played, you won't get it out of your head.
