5am (2015)

Το ντεμπούτο album τους δεν φαίνεται να μπορεί να καταφέρει αυτό που ο μπασίστας του συγκροτήματος Tom Sperring είπε, "δεν θέλουμε να είμαστε οι επόμενοι...". Με προβλέψιμες ακολουθίες συγχορδιών και φωνητικά που θυμίζουν Mumford & Sons τοποθετούνται ως ένα ακόμα mainstream βρετανικό συγκρότημα, που έχει rock προσανατολισμό στη μουσική του.

"5AM" may well turn out to be one of the strongest debut albums of 2015. Amber Run
are a five piece Nottingham based band who make very beautiful music together.
It's not just the tunes (memorable, well-crafted and somewhat timeless in character)
but the way they play together. This is impressive ensemble work but in Joe Keogh they
have a truly charismatic singer/front-man with a remarkably strong and affecting voice.
There are seventeen tracks on the 'Deluxe' edition and not a damp squib in sight.
Stand out numbers include : "Spark", a mid-paced chugging anthem with a soaring
central vocal performance from Mr Keogh and some blistering electric guitar chords
at its heart; "Hurricane", an appealingly percussive invention with a small whiff of The
1975 about it and two equally gorgeous compositions, "Just My Soul Responding" with its
uplifting 'wave your hands in the air' chorus and the title track "5AM" which, at its still
centre, must surely be one of those melodies which we will look back at with aching
fondness in 20 years time and remember just why we loved it so much in the first place.
Fine work gentlemen! If it's not too early I'm looking forward to the next instalment already! Highly Recommended.
