A Cracker
I've listened to this album all the way through at least once a day for the last ten days or so. My first observation is that there are no filler tracks in sight. For me, that's the first basis of a 5 star contender. Sure there are tracks I prefer to others but that goes for every album. It's not a drastic departure from Jason's debut album "Sirens of the Ditch" in terms of the music or lyrical subject matter - his themes tend to be downbeat. Wars, war victims, broken relationships and depression may not constitute a revelation in terms of songwriting but he tackles the themes with a remarkable maturity for a man barely out of his twenties. There's an authenticity in his songwriting and vocal delivery that similar artists would sell their souls for. Plus Jason's a great guitar player and he's more than ably complimented by the 400 Unit here.
All in all a cracking album. Recommended.
