Mitch Ryder — The Detroit-Memphis Experiment: Κριτικές
Maybe Ryder's Solo Best
Mitch Ryder's career is often pigeonholed into just the hits when he was with the Detroit Wheels. They had quite a few hits and were probably the best bar band ever to continually hit the top 40. But Ryder's second recording career was mostly done as a solo act, and this is the best of the albums he recorded post Detroit Wheels. Produced by Steve Cropper and recorded with a band that included most of Booker T's MG's, this overlooked disc is tight and hits a great groove over songs written by various composers including Procol Harum stalwarts, Mathew Fisher, Gary Booker and Keith Reid. The tunes capture the Memphis atmosphere where they were recorded but they never loose the bar-band Detroit white boy soul that Ryder spend years perfecting. A lost gem!
