Norwegian saxophonist has managed to merge jazz with classical in a way that feels like it evolved in a totally natural and organic manner. She invites fellow musicians to weave their magic while she intermittently glides in. Sometimes with a stark fragility that touches the soul and sometimes with a punch that shakes you from getting too comfortable. The richness and colour that Mette invokes in such short pieces and long sets with space is captivating and special.
Recommended to all classical ears.
