Erasure — Chorus: Comentarios

It doesn't get closer to perfect pop!

Erasure were on a roll, creativity and commercially speaking when they started the nineties with this gorgeously electro 10 track album. Gone were the strumming guitars and acoustic pianos of previous albums, replaced by layers of synthesiser sounds and digital rhythms. There were a couple of hits off 'Chorus' including the title track but for me it's an album where any track could've been a single. My personal favourites are "Waiting For The Day", "Turns The World To Anger", "Am I Right" and the magnificent closing track "Home". I also love the albums overall sound mix courtesy of Dave Bascombe who had worked with Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears a couple of years before his work here.
The first run packaging, which I still have, was also something unique for its time as being one of the earliest deluxe edition cd releases. It came in a fold out clam shell style cardboard box with the full lyric booklet and a set of postcards inside with the cd on a plastic tray stuck to the bottom of the box. Later releases would be in the standard plastic jewel case. Of course greater achievements were just around the corner with the phenomenal succes of the Abba-esque EP. Four tracks of Abba magic given the very distinct Erasure sound and one of the few times Benny and Björn have allowed another artist to rearrange their music. But I digress. Chorus is where the sound of that ep originated and if you're new to Erasure it's a great place to begin.
This is why the band are legends. Fantastic music with an ageless beat. Recommended.
