Way Before Rahsaan Arrived
Kirk recorded for many labels throughout his career, and these recordings are some of his earliest. The album consists of fairly straightforward renditions of some standards and jazz classics. There is nothing especially inventive or exciting here - just straight ahead versions of songs you might know. Kirk went on to record a bunch of albums for Mercury later on, and comparing them with this disc makes this CD less important. He grew as the years went on, and got better and more inventive. You can skip this one unless you want to hear the early, less exciting Kirk.
