Great 30 Years After the Fact
Another great James Brown concert that sat in the can for decades before being released, this is a concert with the class band that includes Jimmy Nolen, Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker, St. Clair Pinckney, and Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis. It's too bad that most of these red-hot performances went unreleased for 30 years, because this concert, along with Love Power Peace recorded three years later (with another band) are the two James Brown albums that aficionados go back to for another listen or two all the time. Classic JB tunes like Cold Sweat, There Was A Time and Please, Please, Please are mixed with Say It Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud and some instrumentals. And one of the interesting non-musical parts of the CD are James talking about what he feels I'm Black and I'm Proud is really all about. Great, must have JB album.
