Mike Oldfield — Tubular Bells (Deluxe Edition) (CD1): Reviews
Flashback to the 70's
If you thought you were hip back in the early 70's, this was your late night 'I'm too stoned to move' go to record. In many ways it reflects some of the modern classical composers of the day, and you can hear the influence of everyone from Phillip Glass to Steven Reich in this piece. That doesn't make it great, but the inspiration of the "new modern" composers does make this a very interesting piece. It hasn't exactly stood the test of time, but if you want to relieve a certain period of your forgotten youth, it's a good place to start.
