Otis Redding — The Dock Of The Bay: Reviews
The First of the Posthumous Albums
Otis passed away before Dock of the Bay became a hit, and it was his biggest record ever. This album, named for that tune, was the first of a number of posthumous albums issued with tracks that were in the Stax vaults. And in many respects, it's the best of them. Steve Cropper's guitar rings true on tunes like Let Me Come on Home, and the record is comprised of some of the best tunes that had been previously unissued. This record stands as a testimony to Redding's greatness, and it was a fitting memorial to a man who life had just ended far too soon.
