K.D.Lang at her best
Hymns of the 49th Parallel, features cover versions of songs by six Canadian-born singer-songwriters—two each by Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and Jane Siberry, plus one each by Bruce Cockburn and Ron Sexsmith. I think Simple is the only original by Lang herself. This is a pure tribute. Some knock the choice of songs by such legends with a massive catalogue to pick from but I don't. These are obviously her own favourites and that is all you can do when picking songs to cover in tribute. Perfect production too. Favourites for me are "After The Gold Rush", "A Case Of You", "Hallelujah" & "Jericho"
Her beautiful tone is reminiscent of the great Karen Carpenter.
