Interesting Outakes
I have a full review of Blue elsewhere on this website, and I applaud the album for the classic that it is and always will be. These recently released outakes from that album are a terrific addition to the original, and the versions of River and Urge for Going with horns and strings respectively are fascinating. Mitchell's choice of presenting Blue as a stark, unaccompanied set of originals was right on, and when you hear the additional accompaniment, you can understand why she was reluctant to have anything clutter her arrangements. Program it on your Joni setlist right after Blue, and you'll have the complete Blue classic with icing.
