Really Great Bruce
This album seemed to come out of nowhere after Western Stars, and it's one of Bruce's absolute gems. The songs feel personal and thoughtful, and there are throwbacks to some of his early song themes from his youth. This man is an artist who has not just stood the test of time but has also continued to push and use his abilities to greater ends. There are surprises here like "House of a Thousand Guitars" - I just figured it was a cover of Willie Nile's song with same title, but instead it's a beautifully rendered poem of life as a musician that rings true in a fashion that Bruce does so well. Great record - this disc is a must have.
