Stanley Turrentine — Sugar: Reviews
Very Sweet
Another Turrentine CTI session with excellent studio musicians and rich arrangements. No substantial improvisation here. There are just highly structured pieces of 'smooth jazz' with little fire and soul. But in many ways, that makes them enjoyable in their own right. More like a low flame than a roaring fire, this is another excellent entry in the CTI/Turrentine catalog.
And there's a bonus live version of Sugar that far exceeds the original studio version.
