James Brown — Showtime: Reviews
For Completists Only...Listen At Your Own Risk
Sorry James, but a collection of studio versions of classic songs (none of them yours) with a really bad overdubbed audience reaction was a bad decision, a really bad decision. It might be Showtime somewhere, but this was definitely not one of those times. There are great live JB albums out there (Live at the Apollo Vol.2, for example) and this is the one to avoid at all costs. Do you really want to hear JB sing These Foolish Things Remind Me of You or You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You? NO, you don't. I give it a 2 just because there must be someone out there who needs this to round out their JB collection, but otherwise, avoid this mess at any and all costs.
