Roland Kirk — Volunteered Slavery: Reviews
Kirk's Messy Masterpiece
This is the Kirk album that his fans either love or totally dismiss. It's the best work he did when signed to Atlantic, and in the days of FM DJ's who explored the unknown, this album got a lot of airplay. And I think it's for good reason. Yes, "I Say A Little Prayer" was an underground radio favorite, but it's only one track on a terrific album. Compared to his earlier work, it's a complete revelation, and it will grow on you day by day.
