Al Kooper — Al's Big Deal: Reviews
Terrific Overview of a Storied Career
Al Kooper's great work ranges from Blood Sweat and Tears through some great work with Mike Bloomfield as well as some terrific solo albums. There is a sampling of all three on this disc, and because it's a single disc, it is by no means a complete overview. But if you want some of his best work in a single place, this is the place to start. The tracks all lead to some wonderful complete albums, and there are a lot of roads to follow. But start here and then search out the rest. And on a side note, we're fortunate that at least one of his composing efforts was left off this disc. Yes, Kooper is one of the writers of Gary Lewis and Playboys big hit, This Diamond Ring.
