The First and the Best
This album was a bit of a mystery when first released. McCartney plays all the instruments and sings a few tunes (and harmonizes) on this sparse collection, and while everyone expected 'Beatles' tunes, what we got was 'McCartney's Musings'. It's a fun listen and while it's stood the test of time, it will never hit any top 100 lists. But if you want to hear a great songwriter play around with snippets of what might have otherwise become full tracks on a regular Beatles album, this is the place to go. Two other volumes followed this one over the years, but neither of them had the joy and creativity of this collection of home recordings.
