The First Half
Banks had a very short recording career with only this album for Atlantic/Atco and another for Volt records entitled "Here to Stay". Most of the reissues have extra tracks, and if you can, track them down because some of them are excellent. (This edition lacks the six additional Atlantic tracks on "The Best of Darrell Banks: Open the Door to Your Heart".) With a great soul voice and phrasing, Banks would have been a big star if he hadn't been killed in a lover's quarrel in March 1970. These recordings only give a hint of what could have followed, and he other album on Volt reinforces the thought that he would have had a long recording career. So know that Open the Door to Your Heart is just a hint of what he could have done.
