Because of the more and more growing differences between the musicians, KISS went to make a break, in which everyone of the Four would be going to create a Solo Album. The result of this was a sensational coup: Four new studio albums in one year only (And THAT meant: 10 studio albums and 2 Live Double Albums in just five years since the group’s foundation! Is there another Rock and Roll Band, who can keep up with THIS!?)! The records were released on the same day, got Platin immediately and are legendary today.
Ace Frehley's album was the most successful one and the only one of the four, which contained a single hit (a rougher version of Hello's "New York Groove"). The album continued Frehley's style, which he started on the previous KISS records with his signatures "Shock Me" and "Rocket Ride". Engineered by Eddie Kramer, the LP sounds rough and powerful, like all the songs too. On his KISS Solo work Frehley created three new standards, which should be with him along his career: The opener „Rip-It-Out“, the already mentioned „New York Groove“ and the semi-acoustic first part of the „Fractured“ suite. If you listen to this album, you get an imagine, why Space Ace is the only former KISS member able to make a successful career outside of the band. He's the man from outer space, he's original!
