Two Mixes of the First Scaggs Solo Album
There are two mixes of the first Box Scaggs solo album here, and while it's fun to hear some slight differences like the prominence of Duane Allman's guitar, the main fact is this is one terrific CD. Scaggs had played with Steve Miller, and after he split from the Miller Band, he recorded this incredibly eclectic record that shows influences ranging from Jimmy Rodgers to Chicago Blues. Yes, Loan Me A Dime will forever be the song that defines this album, and Allman's playing is amazing. But just listen to Waiting For a Train and how Allman's slide work helps bring this country classic to a new audience with spirit and amazing grace. Wonderful record on almost every level, and you can't miss with this great start to Scagg's solo career that continues all these many decades later.
