Το "Currents" είναι στιχουργικά ένα album που αναφέρεται στο χωρισμό, ιδίως στους δρόμους που ακολουθείς μετά από αυτόν. Και μουσικά όμως είναι σαν ο Kevin Parker να αφήνει πίσω του το πρότερο στυλ των Tame Impala που ήταν πιο κιθαριστικό, ακολουθώντας ένα νέο μονοπάτι. Ο ίδιος είναι άλλωστε υπεύθυνος για τον ήχο του γκρουπ, με τις συνθέσεις, το παίξιμο και φυσικά την ιδιαίτερη soul φωνή που θυμίζει 60's-70's να τοποθετούν τους Tame Impala σε περίοπτη θέση ανάμεσα στα πιο ενδιαφέροντα σχήματα των καιρών μας.

Very different from their first two albums. I like this but prefer their old sound.
