Guy Garvey — Courting The Squall: Reviews
Perfect Debut....
Guy Garvey has an endearing voice and sings in a heartfelt way about everyday life. On this solo debut he has found a willing set of collaborators to craft a mix of blues, jazz and late-night-bar-vibes to his songs and I am delighted to report - this just all works very well. Elbow fans can buy in confidence whilst others may well find this a more accessible way into Guy's world. An album you can listen to with hardly any twitching of the "skip forward" button. It works well with a glass of your favourite beverage and a log fire. An album set for repeated plays on both my sound system and I-Pod. Elbow fans and listeners who are new to Guy Garvey should love this intelligent and endearing album. What a voice! Recommended.
