The Beach Boys — Independence Day Party 1981 (Live): Reviews
Skip It
The concert that prompted this set was a Richard Nixon attempt to connect with "the youth of America". Unfortunately for him, it was 1981 and the Beach Boys were connected with no one at that point, especially the "youth of America". Recorded on the Mall in DC on a rainy July 4th (Independence Day), this tape is virtually unlistenable and both from a recorded and performance standpoint. Just pass on this mess and go for one of their much better concert albums. Things eventually got better for the Beach Boys the years progressed after this.
