The Chieftains — The Chieftains In China: Reviews
Successful Cross Cultural Collaboration
The Chieftains traveled to China for this recording made with Chinese musicians and traditional Chinese instruments. It's really amazing, and it's quite different from most any other Chieftains recordings. Some of the tunes show the similarities of the two cultures' music, while others represent a successful blending of the two. Partly recorded in concert and partly in the studio, the disc is a moderate success. Not at the top of anyone's Chieftains favorites, it still is an essential chapter in the Chieftains attempts to blend cultures.
