Gene Ammons — Jammin' In Hi Fi With Gene Ammons: Reviews
Another Classic Ammons Jammin' Classic
With four extended tracks all longer than 12 minutes each, this Ammons classic jam has an amazing supporting(?) cast including a young Kenny Burrell, Mal Waldron, Jackie McClean and the exceptional bassist Paul Chambers. Truly an amazing collection of great individual players for a single session, and everyone puts out at full speed. It might be an Ammons session, but it really lets every player take a front seat on solos and lets them stretch out. One of Ammons best sessions from the '50's, but remember, it's 1957 an so it's mono. But honestly, with the degree of wailing here, who needs stereo.
