70s Singer-Songwriter Essentials (CD1) (2021)
70s Singer-Songwriter Essentials (CD1) Reviews
Great Compilation
Whoever put these two volumes together (totaling 100 songs) showed a combination of restraint and good taste. Yes, some of the same old choices are here like JT's "Fire and Rain", but other artists are represented with some of their "non-hits", and there the choices are inspired. Like Tom Waits "Martha" and Rickie Lee Jones "Last Chance Texaco", some great tracks show up here. And there's a wonderful version of Sandy Denny's "Who Knows......" from a John Peel BBC session in 1973. You don't have to buy them all, so pick and choose and go for the songs you don't know (or don't have already), and you'll have a nice collection for your car trips.
